Johns Hopkins University is a highly selective school with an acceptance rate of 9.9%. To apply, students can use the Common Application, Universal Application, or Coalition Application. JHU has an Early Decision program that can improve admission chances for students who are sure the university is their top choice school. Johns Hopkins has multiple campuses in the Baltimore area, but the majority of undergraduate programs are housed in the red-brick Homewood Campus in the northern part of the city. Animal Farm Ad Analysis - 743 Words

The book Animal Farm and the ad â€Å"The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day† have similarities while also having differences in their persuasive techniques. Animal Farm is analogous to the time of the Russian Revolution and Stalin’s reign. The purpose of the ad is to persuade people into buying a new iPhone in order to use the Siri voice assistant. Animal Farm better uses the card stacking persuasive technique than the ad, however, the ad better portrays the testimonial technique. For the card stacking technique, Animal Farm better employs it than The Rock x Siri Dominates the Day. Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to†¦show more content†¦This ad also gives the impression that even the busiest people like Johnson use Siri in their lives to get work done. On the other hand, Animal Farm doesn’t use the testimonial technique as effectively as the ad. Ah, that is different! told Boxer. If Comrade Napoleon says it, it must be right. This quote by Boxer is an example of a testimonial technique used in Animal Farm. Like the multitude of others, this quote/example isn’t as effective as the ad. Boxer isn’t really that popular to the rest of the animals on the farm, he is just a horse that many animals know, however, Dwayne Johnson is a well known man that a lot of people know. Also, Boxer’s maxim is jus t a glittering generality, it shows no evidence for why it is true while Johnson portrays Siri’s functionality in a comical way. For these reasons, the ad, The Rock x Siri Dominates the Day, uses the testimonial persuasive technique more effectively than the book, Animal Farm. In some people’s opinions, the ad might be more effective at card stacking or Animal Farm might be more effective at the testimonial technique. For example, the ratio of animals knowing who Boxer is to the number of animals on the farm is greater than ratio of people knowing who Dwayne Johnson is to the number of people in the world.
